Eczema is undoubtedly a painful and irritating disease. Scratching your skin once it has attacked will make it worse. There are many ways to provide temporary relief to eczema, and many of the essential ingredients are available in your home. While it’s just a warning, eczema is a disease that needs to be treated with medical care. If the treatments suggested in the next sections seem to make your eczema worse, stop treatment and consult a qualified physician.
Apply a generous amount of coconut oil to the affected area. This will moisturize your skin and help prevent dryness and flaking. If you can’t get coconut oil, use fender instead. Coconut oil is readily available in pharmacies.
Do this twice a day and feel the relief. It will reduce itching, thus preventing you from rubbing. However, the cold compress can absorb moisture from your skin, so keep use to a minimum number of times per day. Ideally, apply a dermatologist-approved cream immediately after a cold compress.
Put a cloth soaked in milk on the affected area and leave it there for 15 minutes. Just like coconut oil, it will moisturize your skin, relieve pain and reduce the likelihood of dryness and flaking.
Sunbathing can be done early in the morning while walking briskly or jogging. This should be done before ten in the morning when the sun’s rays are still cool for the skin and rich in vitamin D. After ten in the morning, the sun’s rays are already very harmful, so stay away from open areas.
Do this twice a day for relief. If the steam bath is too hot for you, you can use a light warm compress to relieve the pain. Be very careful while doing this so you don’t experience itching and inflammation over and over again.
Each person’s skin will react differently to the medications listed above. Always consult a qualified physician if eczema worsens or no relief is felt. Remember to stay away from water contact unless necessary, as water is a known trigger of eczema attacks. This happens when the skin is wet and moisturizer is not applied. When the water evaporates, the skin remains dry, which causes eczema to worsen.
